Seven ways to treat your Valentine in Victoria!
It’s that time of year again! Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, which means it’s time to start thinking about how to best celebrate your romance with that special someone. Well if you want to get lucky in love, head to Victoria! Victoria is Canada’s most romantic city, and we’ve got options for romantic escapades that could keep you busy all year around. Don’t believe us? Check out this handy list of romantic adventures!
1) Dine with ambience
Victoria’s variety of renowned dining is no secret, but where do you head for a truly romantic experience? For gourmet food and a classic ambience, Brasserie L‘école offers renowned French cuisine, and Café Brio’s warm, relaxed mood and West Cost dishes always impress their guests. If you seek a funky, modern atmosphere, check out The Mint or The Tapa Bar. The West Coast fusion dishes, famous mojitos, and live DJ at The Mint make for a memorable experience, and the Tapa Bar’s small dishes and extensive wine collection are unforgettable—try the grilled portobello mushrooms!

2) Take a long walk on the beach
Long walks on the beach at sunset in February aren’t just a fantasy anymore—in Victoria, they’re a reality! Our mild weather means that the many beaches in Victoria can be enjoyed all year. Walk along the beach next to Dallas Road or stroll through the soft sand at Willows Beach to see great views of Mount Baker.
3) See the sun set over the city
We’ll let you in on a locals’ secret: Mount Tolmie is the best place in the city to see the sunset. Hike or drive up this Garry Oak-covered hill for memorable views of Greater Victoria and the sun setting over Sooke Hills in the distance.

4) Get deliciously lost in a garden
The winding paths, rose-covered archways and secluded corners of Butchart Gardens spell romance. If you prefer something a bit closer to town, the gardens at Government House are a little-known treasure for you and yours to discover, and Beacon Hill Park is the perfect place for a mid-afternoon stroll.
5) Stroll along the Inner Harbour
Walking along the Inner Harbour is a must-do for any Victoria visitor, and it’s even better if you have a special someone to share it with. During the day, the harbour buzzes with activity; in the evening it’s quiet, romantic, and crowned by the Parliament Buildings sparkling in the distance. Take a water taxi from the Inner Harbour to Spinnaker’s Brewpub at twilight, then enjoy some great food over a pint!

6) Walk along the breakwater
Wind in your hair, salty spray, a long walk next to the water, and ocean views…what more could you ask for! The breakwater at Ogden Point in James Bay is a prime location for windswept romance!
7) Relax on a carriage ride

Cozy up together on a horse-drawn carriage ride through James Bay and downtown Victoria: it’s a classic way to spend a romantic evening. Another hint: you can enjoy a carriage ride and an evening at a gourmet restaurant as part of your stay at a Historic Inn. Just ask your innkeeper about VHI's romantic packages Dip Me Inn Chocolate and Spare the Horses, James.
